The National Assembly Secretariat has formally requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to unseat PML-N MNA Adil Bazai.
Despite being listed as a PML-N member, Bazai is frequently seen on the opposition side, openly criticizing the government.
There is also ambiguity about which party backed him in the February 8 general elections.
Bazai contested from Quetta’s NA-262 constituency, initially won as an independent candidate, joining PML-N.
Under the law, independent candidates cannot switch parties after filing such an affidavit, yet Bazai has shown alignment with PTI and SIC members.
A notification from the NA Secretariat, obtained by Tribune92, revealed that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has declared Bazai’s actions as a defection in violation of Article 63-A of the Constitution, which bans political defection or “floor-crossing.”
As a result, Sharif requested the ECP to declare Bazai’s seat vacant.
Bazai, reacting to the disqualification request on social media platform X, shared the news report along with a laughing emoji.
